Each year, Lots of people get sick with contaminated foods due to food poisoning or food borne illness, which involves the consumption of infectious organisms, such as parasites, bacteria and viruses. This contamination can occur during production, processing as well as when foods are improperly handled, improperly cooked or improperly store. Home remedies can help ease mild symptoms of food poisoning.

  • A case of food poisoning robs the body of much needed elements such as sodium and potassium also known as electrolytes. Soft drinks such as Powerade and Gatorade can replenish electrolytes loss during vomiting and diarrhea.
  • Sip on herbal tea to treat food poisoning symptoms. Suitable selections includes, chamomile, blackberry and raspberry.   
  • Papayas can also treat signs of food poisoning, which is known as an effective digestive aid. Peel and cut papayas into cubes, boil in some water for 20 minutes, strain liquid and drink for tow or three days.
  • Take two to three teaspoon of lemon juice and ginger extract with a pinch of black pepper, to help ease vomiting and nausea associated with food poisoning. Take this mixture for three to four days.
  • Create a paste from ginger and buttermilk, which should be taken two to three times daily.
  • After vomiting, immediately sip on warm water to soothe your stomach and gain relief from abdominal pain.
  • To avoid further irritations, use bland foods when easing back into your regular diet. Include cereal, pudding, soda, cider and broth. Its important to avoid, spicy, acid, high fiber, greasy, sugary and dairy products.
  • When you feel the need for an energy boost, consume sugar found in soda by sipping on it (without the bubbles). Pouring soda back and fourth between glasses will quickly turn your drink flat. Ginger ale is perfect choice, coca cola without the bubbles is also known to settle stomach.
  •  When bacteria attack the intestinal tract, food loss is a common consequence of food poisoning. Drinking plenty of fluids will prevent dehydration. While water is a perfect choice, you may also choose other clear liquids, such as bullion, apple juice and broth.
